Bald Head Association Bald Head Island’s Largest Property Owners’ Association

Bald Head Volunteering

Bald Head Association is the island's 'Stage I' home owners' association. It is our mission to provide leadership on behalf of our members through community advocacy, communication with and for our members and activities that sustain the values and attributes that make Bald Head Island unique.

Consider making a commitment of time and energy to a Bald Head Association committee. The goals of the committees listed below are defined to help you identify your areas of interest. Please be a part of these efforts. This is your Association and your Island!

Architectural Review
The ARC has the crucial charge of reviewing home plans and administering the Design Guidelines, with numerous reviews handled each year for home plans, landscaping and renovation related submittals.

Communication, Education and Recreation
The committee seeks to implement methods of improving communication and cooperation for and between all island entities (Associations, Developer, Village, Conservancy, etc) and the membership. They also organize a wide variety of recreational and educational program offerings at the Association Center such as painting workshops, yoga, Zumba, knitting, quilting and Pilates. This committee also drives the popular annual Smith Island Social and makes recommendations for offerings to improve the Island Report, cable station and BHA website.

Finance and Administration
Finance and Administration helps to develop the upcoming year's budget, provides guidance on policy changes and identifies the need for new policies to assist the Board in the operation of the Association. In the past, aside from the challenging annual task of coming up with a prudent budget, the Committee has developed recommendations related to Common Areas, Association Center Use and personnel and finance policy improvements.

Long Range Planning
This committee examines issues related to long term planning of BHA, as well as other strategic issues that arise that may affect the organization's future.

Natural Resources and Beautification
This committee coordinates two island wide cleanups per year and an ongoing adopt-a-wynd program. If you enjoy beautifying the island and like to see direct results for your efforts, this is a wonderful committee with which to be involved. The Committee is also responsible for reviewing requests/violations related to common area usage.

This committee has the crucial job of identifying qualified candidates to run for future BHA Board positions and continue the tradition of strong leadership for the BHA.

Please contact BHA Executive Director Carrie Moffett at 910-457-4676 x21 or with questions or to request a volunteer application. Thank you very much for your interest in your Association!
